I’m going to change your mind around carbs forever.
Both in this article and in a Free Live Workshop I’m hosting tomorrow called…
‘Cracking The Carb Code: Mastering Sugar & Smart Carb Choices’
But make sure to read this first, because it'll make the workshop 10x more valuable…plus the RSVP link is at the end. 😉
And to help change your mind, we’re starting with what most women (maybe you too) do with carbs.
They cut them.
No, not with scissors but from their diets all together.
Maybe it was bread, rice, potatoes, or all carbs. Sugar, too.
And for a few weeks, it actually worked.
You felt lighter, the scale went down a few pounds, and you had some optimism that you’re going to feel like the old you again.
Then slowly, the cravings start to creep in. Your energy is nowhere to be found and you’re left relying on coffee. And all you want is a slice of sourdough bread but you can’t because carbs.
Worst of all…the scale has plateaued.
So you blame yourself because it must be your fault, right? This is working for everyone else online so there must be something wrong with you.
"Maybe I just don't have the willpower."
"Maybe this is just what getting older feels like."
“Maybe this is what the rest of my life will be like.”
I’ve heard all of these before and I’m guessing you probably have said or thought this, too.
And it’s all because of this frustrating loop you’ve been stuck in.
I cut carbs → I lose a little weight → I think it’s working → I plateau → I get frustrated and take a few days off → weight comes back → I panic → I cut carbs again.
I want you to know It makes complete sense…
It’s not your fault or something wrong with you…
And it's not about carbs.
What's Actually Happening
It's not that carbs are the problem…it’s the repeating pattern that’s the problem.
All because it’s not possible for restriction like this to create lasting changes.
Somewhere along the way, "control" got redefined as eating less. Fewer carbs and smaller portions.
But that's really not control. It’s putting a band aid over a cut artery. It can work in the short term but it will eventually bleed through.
Real control doesn't come from eating less of something. It comes from giving your body what it needs.
The Wrong Advice You’ve Been Given
When you cut carbs, you can drop a 2-5lbs fast. And it feels like such a relief…like finally, something is working.
But what's actually happening is mostly loss of water weight, not actual body fat.
And the minute you eat carbs again, the weight comes back.
Now when you step on the scale again, it shows the same number it did before. But now you feel worse, because you're exhausted, frustrated, and feel like you’ve "tried everything."
For one moment, the scale convinced you it was working.
Then in another, the scale convinced you it failed.
And neither reading was really telling you the truth about your body.
Here’s Something To Consider..
Restricting carbs and calories creates short-term control but it doesn't create long-term stability.
When you cut out these carbs and eat a 1200 calorie diet, your body is changing in ways you can’t see. It adapts by slowing down your metabolism, ramping up your hunger and cravings, and stores more aggressively when carbs come back.
And while it seems like your body’s working against you, it’s actually just trying to survive.
On the flip side, when you nourish your body with the foods it needs, it starts to trust that food is coming. And that carbs aren't going away.
This is when something different happens. Your hunger starts to level out, your cravings start to go away, you sleep deeper through the night, and you have steady energy throughout the day.
Over the past 10 years, I’ve heard women describe the feeling of what it’s like to nourish rather than deprive and here’s how I’d put:
"I feel more in control of my body when I nourish it with the foods I eat."
You read that right…not when they restrict, but when they nourish their body.
The Perfect Example Of This
One of our members, Kathy, came to me skeptical of carbs and she should’ve been.
She was type II diabetic with an A1C over 10. You don’t need to know anything about A1C to know that is HIGH.
She'd done low-carb in the past and It worked…for a short period of time.
And even though the weight came right after she stopped low-carb, she still didn’t see another way.
She didn't believe eating more carbs could possibly make her feel better.
But she was tired, waking up exhausted, and her A1C was not coming down…even though she was still cutting carbs.
So I asked her to do an experiment with me. To gradually add carbs back in to see how her body would react. Like I said, she was skeptical but nothing else worked so she was open to it.
Within two days, she slept through the night and woke up with more energy. Within a few weeks, she had energy throughout the day and felt happier than she had in a long time.
Over the next 4 months, she lost 25lbs and best of all…her A1C went down into a normal range.
Yes, she was able to get off of her diabetes medication by eating more carbs.
She couldn’t believe it because everyone told her carbs were bad. That she needed to avoid them.
But what this showed her - and I’m hoping you too - is that the advice you hear isn’t always what’s right for you.
Eat More Carbs AND Feel More In Control
After hearing about Kathy, you might be asking, “Ok, but where do I start?”
Start with one small shift at a time, not by overhauling everything.
Start by adding a piece of fruit to your breakfast.
Just one simple addition that tells your body, “carbs are safe, carbs are good.”
And the first changes you'll notice won't be on the scale.
They'll show up as better sleep, no more 2pm crashes, and no more after-dinner cravings.
This is your body being able to take its first deep breath in a long time, able to chill out.
Look, the whole ‘carbs are bad, avoid sugar, only eat these carbs’ is confusing…
And I want to make it a little less confusing for you so that’s why I'm hosting a FREE Live Workshop where I'll walk through:
The right (and wrong) carbs to eat
Where cravings come from (and how to get rid of them)
How eating MORE carbs is the secret to feeling in control
[Click here to RSVP and reserve your spot]
And most importantly, where to start so you can experience what it feels like to be more in control of your body while eating carbs…
Without worrying about the scale going up.
The workshop will be held on Zoom at 4pm/7pm EST.
